Description
My name is Courtney Thomas and I have over 15 years of experience supporting people in and around Glasgow. I have my SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care and my SVQ 3 in Children and Young People.
During my career I have mainly worked with children / men who have autism, physical and learning difficulties and brain injuries. I proud myself on having a caring person centred approach to supporting people and I believe that one of the most important aspect of care and support is the ability to be yourself and live your life as independently as possible.
I am used to working with people of different ages and backgrounds. One of the many qualities I have gained from my work is the ability to think on my feet as I have found people can be very changeable.
I have studied social care theory for practice, social policy and its application to social services provision, professional boundaries and inter-agency procedures and practice.
I have experience in challenging behaviour and all the complexities that brings. I have provided support in care settings, homes and in the community. I have a good working knowledge of the central belt of Scotland and I have my MIDAS (minibus) driving certificate.
What I like most about being a carer is that everyday is different. Your role is to support someone to live their life and you can be a part of someone's personal development.
I am married with a 7 year old daughter. My hobbies include travelling, watching football and community development. I also work part time for a Covid - 19 response organisation.
